Kathmandu District Court allows police to arrest Mahara over rape case


Kathmandu- Kathmandu District Court has allowed police to arrest immediate Former speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara over alleged rape case filed against him by Roshani Shahi, an employee at the parliament secretariat.

district Judge Brajesh Pyakurels Bench  on Sunday allowed Nepal police to arrest Mahara and launch probe into the case.

Police will inform Deputy speaker of the House of Repersentatives Shiva maya Tumbahamphe and may arrest him by evening today.

Roshani Shahi on Friday registered an FIR against Mahara at Metropolitan Police Circle, New Baneshwor accusing him of sexually harassing her.

Following  her complaint, police moved the court to get permission for the arrest of Mahara who had stepped down from the post of speaker amid allegations on Monday.
